pnbd24:-After successful completion of the past five International cycle rallies in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017 we are going to organize the ‘6th Indo-Bangla Cross Border International Friendship Cycle rally 2018, Bhasa Sutra’. This is the one and only cross border cycle rally in India from Kolkata – the cultural capital of India to Dhaka – the capital of Bangladesh.
So we have organized the Curtain Raiser Programme on the eve of Bijoy Dibosh, 15th December, 2017. We have tried to gather the cyclists of previous years together with some eminent personalities for a short cultural discussion and press meet on Indo-Bangla International friendship Rally, Bhasa Sutra, 2018.
Bhasa Sutra which has started just as a cross border cycle rally on 2012, now evolved as a cultural bond between 2 neighboring countries. So friends from Bangladesh and rest of the world now participates in discussions, enrolls as cyclists etc. Mr. Tariqul Islam Chowdhury ( Bangladesh Youth Leader) came here today just to attend the program and to share his views and experience on this rally and importance of Bijoy Dibosh or Vijay Diwas which is equally celebrated in both the countries, India and Bangladesh. Today’s discussion also focuses on cycling as a sports as well as the most eco friendly land vehicle which is very popular and prestigious in Europe and Bangladesh as well but it just remained as a poor man’s vehicle in India. We do not have cycle lane and in Kolkata it is not even permitted in major roads.
This year we want to dedicate this rally to Rabindranath Tagore, unarguably the most popular Bond between two nations. So this year, we plan our rally in such a way that we can touch some of the historical places associated with Rabindranath Tagore covering Jorasanko Thakurbari,
Our 425 kms cycle rally will be flagged off from Kolkata on 14 February, 2018, The International Valentine’s Day and shall finish at Dhaka on 21st February, 2018, The International Mother Language Day. Nearly 30 adventurers are expected to participate in this Cycle rally.
We have started our registration of cyclists with this curtain raiser programme. Children from 7 years to senior citizen of 68 years have shown interest to participate this year.
We are honoured to have the following eminent guests for today’s programme .
Dr. Sandhya Bhadury ( guest lecturer of Calcutta University , Jadavpur University and Vidyasagar University )
